Rush Hour Chaos on the M6

Commuters this morning may have noticed traffic was moving slower than normal – even for M6 rush hour standards. Unfortunately, this was caused by two separate accidents on the M6 near Birmingham which brought traffic to a grinding halt. The southbound carriageway between Junctions 8, for the M5, and 7, the Great Barr exit, was closed to allow for a serious crash involving a motorbike in the roadworks area to be dealt with.

A Central Motorway Police Group spokesman said emergency services were immediately dispatched when the accident was reported shortly after 7.30am. It’s not yet known if the motorcyclist was injured or if any other vehicles were involved. Traffic was stationary causing tailbacks to Junction 10 and long delays but the motorway between Junctions 8 and 7 reopened shortly after 9am.

The congestion had been exacerbated by the closure of two lanes on the southbound carriageway at Junction 10, the A454 exit for Wolverhampton, because of a different accident. Hopefully, this will all be cleared up soon and everyone will be able to walk away from the accident without injury. If you have been involved in an accident, contact AJR Solicitors today.
